MC Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award

He's a veteran presence in the Los Angeles Shockers bullpen and now Jake Richardson can say he's a 2018 award winner.

The bullpen ace was today named the Major Conference Reliever of the Year Award winner.

"When you're 34 years old, your main objective is to just stay healthy and stay productive. I guess I did that this year," he said.

The award was won on the strength of a season that featured 46 saves in 75 relief appearances, with 96 strikeouts in 82.1 innings and a record of 2-4 to go with his 1.97 ERA.

He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 30. Cesar Cordero of the Alaska Snow Sox finished second in voting with 13 first place votes, while Jon Papelbrad of the New York Cobra finished third with 1 first place vote.
