Charlotte Swaps Nunez to Los Angeles for Hamilton
Saturday, December 8th, 2018
Both sides appear content with the trade finalized today that will send 32-year-old SS Rey Nunez, 20-year-old minor league SS Lonnie Cook and $4,670,000 in cash to the Los Angeles Shockers, while the Charlotte Hawks will receive 25-year-old C Leo Hamilton.
"This is a move that filled a few gaps in our roster," said Doug Orama, Hawks general manager.
For his part, the Shockers GM said the trade was made "in the best interest of our organization's future." BNN analysts reported that on paper the trade seemed to be a plus for both ball clubs. The players involved are expected to join their new teams for the next scheduled game.
Charlotte will retain a portion of Nunez's remaining contract.
A check of his lifetime stats shows Nunez has a career .273 average with 592 hits, 99 doubles, 11 triples, 40 home runs and 256 RBIs. To date he has scored 260 runs, walked 160 times and stolen 6 bases.
In 208 games Hamilton has a career .249 batting average and a .313 on-base percentage. He has hit 24 home runs with 82 RBIs and 54 runs scored.
