Data Downloads for Supporters of My Work

Data downloads

Projection Downloads

Projection downloads are available to those who support my work by purchasing WAR in Pieces. Any copy is fine - Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover. See below for link to book. See bottom of this page for instructions on finding the password and user name.

WAR 2.0

WAR2.0 downloads are password protected but provided free of charge to those who have purchased the book. These will allow you to sort the data or work with it in any way you want. There are 5 CSV files, 3 for position players and 2 for pitchers. These contain the same data that the player webpages are built from.

Downloads 2025 - Updated after the 2026 mid-year release, including 1908 and 1909 seasons.

In 2026 I switched from using retrosheet IDs to using numeric MLBAM IDs. Apologies if this causes any issues with your data setup. There are many good reasons for this, including the future potential to integrate this pages with projections or pitch by pitch data. The player ID file at the end of this list includes both the Retro and MLBAM IDs for all of the player in my database.

Downloads 2025 - Updated after the 2025 season.

Downloads 2024 - Updated after the 2024 season.

Downloads 2023 - This is what I had on the site at the end of the 2023 season.

How to Download

  • You must have a copy of WAR in Pieces, print or Kindle
  • User name is "dude". Lower case.
  • To find password
    • Print edition - go to page 222.
    • Kindle Edition - In table of contents, go to Chapter 7 Pitching, subchapter Leverage.
    • Go forward a few pages (exact number depends on your Kindle settings) to the first table in this subchapter. The table should be on a page by itself.
    • Go to the 3rd pitcher listed in the table. The first part of the password is his last name. Case sensitive.
    • The second part of the password is this pitcher's stat in the third column
    • Add the two parts together (concatenate)
    • As an example, if the player was Hank Aaron and the stat was career homers, the password would be "Aaron755"
  • Do not share this password or post it on any website. If I notice more downloads than book sales, I reserve the right to change the password at any time.
