Decepticons Top Florida, 2-1
|
Fans watched the Portland Decepticons and the Florida Penguins fight to the finish.
Florida pitcher Justin Evans gave the Decepticons all they could handle, but in the end, Portland left Penguin Park with a win, 2-1. Evans allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 7 innings. Portland reliever Alan Everett picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Woody Francis was saddled with the loss. Mark Hunter was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.
Doug Metcalfe, who is tied for 6th in the MC in triples with 4, aided the Portland cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman drove in one run.
"I know we have our doubters," said Florida manager Fidel Duenas. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
