Seagulls Knock Off Bandits, 8-5
|
Toronto and Bay Area duked it out and the Seagulls came out victorious.
The Toronto Seagulls stopped the Bay Area Bandits, 8-5, at Toronto Fields. The Seagulls got a big game from Julian Martínez, who went 3 for 3 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mitchell Becker got the win, improving to 5-5. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Ed McCoy notched his 4th save in 6 chances.
In the bottom of the sixth, Toronto center fielder Emilio Vallejo put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 5th home run of the year. Bay Area pitcher Russ Higgins served it up. Just like that, the Seagulls were ahead, 8-5.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toronto manager David Salazar.
With the win, Toronto pushed its record to 37-32.
