The Springfield Isotopes got a superb performance from pitcher Jon Buckner. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Toledo. The Mud Hens won the game, 4-3. Buckner threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Toledo goes to 41-30. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Toledo trailing 3-2, Jose Vasquez hit a fastball from Lou Watson to right-center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Mud Hens had a walk-off win.

"This place sure got loud," said Miles O'Brien, the Toledo manager.
