Isotopes Prevail, 3-2, Over Phoenix
|
The Springfield Isotopes got a strong performance from pitcher Carson Olsen, who stymied the Phoenix offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Duff Field. Rens Spaan earned the save, his 21st in 25 tries. Springfield bumps their record to 37-44 with the win.
The Isotopes got a big at-bat from designated hitter Brienne Tarth. For the game, Tarth was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 26th home run of the season gave Springfield a 2-1 lead.
Afterward, Isotopes manager Otto Tingley was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
