Winds Beat Phoenix, 4-3
|
The Phoenix Autobots got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Eyres. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chicago. The Winds won the game, 4-3. Eyres threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. Chicago reliever Justin Evans picked up the win, upping his record to 2-5. Jon Papelbrad shouldered the loss. Bryan Avila converted his 4th save in 7 tries.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Greg Haase to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Winds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Haase.
The Autobots, now 38-46, have lost 4 in a row.
