Gamblers Lose By a Run at Miami, 8-7
|
The Miami Stars topped the Las Vegas Gamblers, 8-7, in Superior Conference action at Ballpark of Miami. The game was highlighted by the performance of Miami designated hitter Esteban Ruiz. Ken Stafford came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Ricardo Osuna was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities.
Devan Arceneaux, who finished 2nd in the SC in batting average with .345 in 2016, aided the Miami cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Arceneaux told the Miami Bulletin.
With the win, Miami upped its record to 43-42.
