Kelly Now 6-8 After Subduing Isotopes
|
The St. Louis Robins topped the Springfield Isotopes, 4-1, in Major Conference action at Robins Nest. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Victoria, Texas, native Fred Kelly. Ron Knight was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 23 save opportunities. St. Louis is now 41-44, while Springfield is 41-46.
Kelly, the winner, is now 6-8 after putting the clamps on the Springfield offense. In 8.1 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 6 hits, while collecting 11 Ks.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said St. Louis manager George Kird.
