Wildcard Series Goes the Distance, Baltimore Prevails
|
The Wildcard Series went the distance before it all was said and done.
The Baltimore Colts and the Toledo Mud Hens went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Ballpark of Baltimore, the winner was the Colts.
They put away Toledo 3-2 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Division Series.
For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Toledo second baseman Orlando Colangelo was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .444, scored 2 runs and batted in 4 to win the honor.
"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.
The Baltimore Colts will play against the Cleveland Spiders in the next round. Cleveland had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
