The Hawaii Hounddogs defeated the Alaska Snow Sox, 8-3, at The Igloo today. Leading the charge for Hawaii was left fielder Dave Nguyen. He was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Victor Mendez, the winner, improved to 8-4. He held the Snow Sox to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Kieran Harper converted his 2nd save in 3 tries.

Hawaii relied on the hitting of Juan Carlos Baez to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Hounddogs on top, 3-0. For the game, Baez had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Nguyen told the Hawaii Daily.
