Eyebiters Rally For Late Win Over Shockers
|
The Mars Eyebiters and Los Angeles Shockers played an exciting game.
The Mars Eyebiters topped the Los Angeles Shockers, 4-2, with first baseman Ramon Sanchez playing a big role. Sanchez went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles for the Eyebiters in the win. Pedro Cruz, now 3-6, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Frank Branch converted his 8th save in 10 tries.
Mars needed the clutch hitting of Craig Contreras to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eyebiters on top, 4-2. For the game, Contreras had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"No time for posing," said Sanchez. "The next game will be here before you know it."
The third-place Eyebiters are 53-61.
