Branton Slugs 3 Homers, Hounddogs Get 7-1 Win
The Hawaii Hounddogs topped the Green Day Dukes by the score of 7-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman John Branton. Branton slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times for the Hounddogs on the day. The winner was Victor Mendez, who threw 101 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. With the victory, the Hounddogs upped their record to 61-55.

With Hawaii leading 3-0 in the top of the seventh, Branton hit a fastball from Bill Bennett for a grand slam home run. It was his 46th home run of the season and put the Hounddogs ahead, 7-0.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Branton, "and go after the next one."
