Utes Lose to Eyebiters, 3-2
|
The Mars Eyebiters did just enough to secure a victory over the Utah Utes, 3-2, at Mars Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Kirby Morris. Morris went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 8-7. Frank Branch converted his 10th save in 12 tries.
The Eyebiters got a big hit from first baseman Ramon Sanchez. In the bottom of the fifth, Sanchez pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 20th double of the season put the Eyebiters ahead, 3-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Morris told the Mars Chronicle.
Mars now has a 3-game win streak.
