Spiders Come Up Short at Springfield, 5-4
The Cleveland Spiders got a superb performance from pitcher Rafael Romero. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Springfield. The Isotopes won the game, 5-4. Romero threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Bob O'Reilly notched his 10th save in 11 chances. Springfield now has a 3-game win streak.

Springfield took a 5-2 lead on Ed Sanders's 1st triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Sanders hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cleveland pitcher Bobby Barbettini visibly frustrated.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Springfield manager Otto Tingley. "It's usually not just one thing."
