Penguins Deal Sluggers 2-1 Defeat
|
Slugger Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Florida pitcher Shawn George did his part in helping his team beat the Louisville Sluggers, 2-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. George picked up the win for Florida, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 13-7.
The Penguins benefited from an error in the top of the fifth inning. Florida was leading 1-0 when Gidget Peveto hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Florida in front, 2-0.
"Both teams played hard," said Florida manager Gordon Sumner.
The win puts the Penguins at 57-73, while the Sluggers drop to 62-68.
