Devils Come Back Late, Nip Shockers
|
The Los Angeles Shockers went down to defeat to John Berg and his Detroit teammates. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Devils. Alonso Romo notched his 37th save in 43 chances. The win elevated the Devils to 86-63.
Had Jerry James not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, James hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Devils.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Detroit manager Hokualohi Keohi.
