Quinones, St. Louis Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the St. Louis Robins and the Alaska Snow Sox. St. Louis won it, 2-1. St. Louis starter Francisco Quinones was in command. Ron Knight was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 38 of 40 save opportunities. With the victory, the Robins upped their record to 74-74.
Quinones's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 8 strikeouts in 7.2 innings while allowing 4 hits. Quinones goes to 11-11 on the year with 154 strikeouts.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Alaska manager Greg Poupon.
