Gamblers Nip Knights, 3-2
|
The Las Vegas Gamblers had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Edward Berry to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Gambler Field. Berry went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Ryan Robinson picked up the win. His record improves to 11-3. Jerry Foster took the loss. Las Vegas raised its record to 91-60 with the win.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Las Vegas center fielder Raul Saldana, facing Jerry Foster, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gamblers the 3-2 win.
Saldana said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
