Seagulls Best Grays, 8-4
|
Juan Cruz was a major factor in the 8-4 Toronto win over Philadelphia. The Seagulls shortstop went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Picking up the win was Mitchell Becker. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 10 and walked 1. Tomas Sanchez, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
Cruz had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the sixth for the Seagulls. Coming up with the bases loaded and Toronto trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Cruz.
Toronto occupies last place in the Major Conference Eastern Division at 71-91.
