The Utah Utes got a superb performance from pitcher Juan Gutierrez, but the Las Vegas Gamblers still won the game, 3-2. Gutierrez threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Las Vegas reliever Brian Ohman was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Juan Gutierrez. The Gamblers, now 16-6, have been playing some good baseball.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jaime Lannister came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Utah pitcher Axel Manto Jr, he hit a 0-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Las Vegas on top, 3-2.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Las Vegas manager Ray Brooks. "It's usually not just one thing."
