Stars Earn 3-2 Win Versus Mud Hens
Fans of the Miami Stars who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Miami win over the visiting Toledo Mud Hens, 3-2. Ken Fitzgerald started for the home team against Cary Lee. Ken Fitzgerald earned accolades for his performance. Reliever Ken Stafford picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ryan Sargent took the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Miami designated hitter Jeff Alexander, facing Ryan Sargent, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Stars the 3-2 win.

"I was a little disappointed," said Toledo manager Miles O'Brien. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
