Mud Hens Need Extra Innings to Top Spiders, 6-5
Good production from shortstop Jose Vasquez helped the Toledo Mud Hens topple the Cleveland Spiders, 6-5. Vasquez went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Mud Hens. Toledo pitcher Jesus Palmeiro got the win, upping his record to 1-0. David Lewis got the loss. Cleveland falls to 15-17.

Toledo needed the clutch hitting of Paul Lambert to notch the win. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mud Hens on top, 6-5. For the game, Lambert had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Miles O'Brien.
