Grays Fall Short, 2-1, at St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Robins topped the Philadelphia Grays, 2-1, in Major Conference action at Robins Nest. The game was highlighted by the performance of St. Louis pitcher Joel Fletcher. Fletcher, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Ron Kennedy earned the save for St. Louis, his 11th of the year.
Alfredo Ocampo dealt the Grays a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and St. Louis leading 1-0, Ocampo hit a 1-2 forkball for a run-scoring single.
"It was a solid team effort," said Ocampo after the game.
The victory gives the Robins a record of 20-17.
