The Cleveland Spiders got a superb performance from pitcher Kelala Taree, but the New York Knights still won the game, 6-3. Taree came in in relief and pitched to 24 batters. Mark Stevens, the winning pitcher, is now 5-3. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 1. With the win, New York pushed its record to 22-19.

Tim Burrows, the 26-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Burrows contributed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put New York up, 1-0.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Burrows.
