Knights Fall Short, 6-5, at Las Vegas
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Las Vegas Gamblers and New York Knights.

The Las Vegas Gamblers weathered a fine game by New York first baseman Kenny Bowden to upend the Knights, 6-5, at Gambler Field. Bowden was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Las Vegas reliever Alejandro Montano was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Anastasio Carrara. Ramon Martinez earned the save for Las Vegas, his 1st of the year.

Las Vegas took a 6-5 lead on Erik Smith's 2nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Smith hit in the bottom of the seventh, left New York pitcher Anastasio Carrara visibly frustrated.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said New York manager Gabriel Gonzalez. "But we decided not to take it."

The win for the Gamblers lifted their record to 29-16.
