Dave Thomas did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Springfield Isotopes from losing, 7-6, to the Utah Utes at Duff Field. Thomas went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. Axel Manto Jr recorded his 8th save for Utah. The third-place Isotopes have lost 4 consecutive games.

Utah used the clutch hitting of Aster Smith to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Utes the lead, 7-5. For the game, Smith had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Smith.
