Seagulls Lose By a Run at Detroit, 6-5
|
The Toronto Seagulls got a sterling performance from center fielder Emilio Vallejo, but the Detroit Devils still prevailed, 6-5. Vallejo was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Lance Barnes picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 3-2. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 25-19.
The Devils got a big at-bat from catcher Dave Farrell. For the game, Farrell was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Farrell after the game.
