Shockers Upend Cobra, 9-6
|
New York left fielder Michael Hopkins had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-6, to Los Angeles at Cobra Stadium. Hopkins was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Ken Caffey, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The Major Conference Western Division-leading Shockers have a record of 27-18.
Lonnie Cook dealt the Cobra a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Los Angeles leading 5-4, Cook, who is tied for 3rd in the MC in triples with 4, hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single.
"Feels good to get the job done," Cook said after the game.
