Texas picked up a win at Ballpark of Texas, bumping off the Portland Decepticons, 4-0. Pitcher John Berg was a major reason the Gunfighters emerged victorious. Norm Decker got credit for the save for Texas. It was his 2nd of the year. The 4th-place Gunfighters sport a record of 23-27.

Berg, a native of Syracuse, New York, was dealing all game. He kept Portland hitters off-balance, while giving the Gunfighters 6.2 quality innings. Berg threw 102 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 6.

"Bottom line," said Portland skipper Sonic Russell, "we didn't play well enough to win."
