The Phoenix Autobots got a stellar performance from pitcher Chris Eyres, who handcuffed the Mars offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Mars Field. Eyres, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. With the win, Phoenix pushed its record to 24-24.

Tommy Gilmore, the 30-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gilmore contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Phoenix up, 2-0.

Eyres told a Phoenix Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
