Patrick Coote was a vital contributor to the 9-8 Mars victory over Miami. The Eyebiters third baseman was 2-3 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Edgar Sanders. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 1 hit in 4 innings. Frank Branch finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Chris Matthews drove in one run for Mars. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ervin Russell. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Matthews. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."

With the win, Mars goes to 1-5.
