Colts Snag 5-2 Win
|
The Baltimore Colts got a stellar effort from pitcher Blaine Shorts, helping Baltimore score a win over the visiting Texas Gunfighters, 5-2. In 8 innings, Shorts surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. With the victory, the Colts upped their record to 31-23.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Lou Cook came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Texas pitcher John Berg, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Baltimore on top, 3-2.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Baltimore manager Jason Sorensen.
