Autobots Stymie Texas, Take 3-1 Win
|
The Phoenix Autobots satisfied the home crowd at Ballpark of Arizona, treating them to a season-opening win, 3-1, over the Texas Gunfighters. Starting Pitcher Bernard Richter was the standout performer for Phoenix.
Warner Wolf was 1-2 for Phoenix. The 28-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Juan Hernandez. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Autobots manager Bob Myers, "I like our chances."
