Foster Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Thursday, September 7th , 2023 It was a sensational day at the plate for Derek Foster as he led the charge to a 4-3 win over the Sluggers. The Springfield first baseman was pure misery for the Louisville pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Foster put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Walter Lewis, manager for the Sluggers, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Derek Foster doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. Foster is hitting .282 this year with 28 home runs, 79 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He has 138 hits in 490 at-bats, 43 walks and a .344 on-base percentage. Foster has played in 131 games.
