Sheppard Scorches Dukes for 3 HR Wednesday, April 17th , 2024 Denver Rabbits third baseman George Sheppard slugged three home runs against the Green Day Dukes at Mile Long Stadium, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Dukes spoiled his day by defeating the Rabbits, 9-6. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game George had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Denver manager Brian Woods. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing George, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Sheppard was 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Sheppard said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." George Sheppard hit a solo-shot off Gene West in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Robert Miller in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Robert Miller in the 9th. This season Sheppard is batting .417 with 15 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 8 times and has 14 RBI. |
