Penguins Earn 4-3 Win Versus Bandits
|
Florida and Bay Area duked it out and the Penguins came out victorious.
The Penguins grabbed a win, 4-3, at Bandits Park, overcoming a fine effort from Bay Area pitcher Tomas Colon. Colon went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. The win was credited to 24-year old left-handed pitcher Alex Hickey in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Mike DeWitt took the loss. Craig Webb locked down his 14th save.
Florida used the timely hitting of Ricardo Gonzalez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Penguins on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Gonzalez, "one at-bat at a time."
Florida is now 32-40, Bay Area 34-39.
