GONE! GONE! GONE! 3 HRs for Alvarez

Louisville Sluggers second baseman Carlos Alvarez sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Miami Stars, Alvarez told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Alvarez pushed the Sluggers past the Stars, 6-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Alvarez told reporters after the game.
Carlos Alvarez hit a two-run home run off Clayton Lewis in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Clayton Lewis in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jesus Sandoval in the 8th.
In 119 games this season, Alvarez has compiled a .240 batting average with 112 hits and 28 home runs. He has also scored 68 times and knocked in 65 runs.

Rush Jacks 3 into the Stands

Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Colts-Isotopes game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Baltimore catcher Julian Rush thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Baltimore to a win, 10-1, over Springfield.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Rush said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Rush, who is a six-time All-Star, was 3-for-5 on the day with 5 RBI.
Julian Rush grounded out in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Justin Ferris in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Shawn Sander in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Foeke Geerdinkck in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
On the season, Rush is batting .266 with 15 home runs and 62 RBIs. He has played in 92 games.
