Cobra Get Past Toronto, 5-4
Despite a great performance by Toronto second baseman Boba Chette, the New York Cobra defeated the Seagulls by the score of 5-4 in 10 innings at Cobra Stadium. Chette was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. New York pitcher Elmer Stephens earned the win, hiking his record to 3-5. Roberto Ruiz suffered the loss. New York is now 37-45, while Toronto is 41-38.

The Cobra got a clutch hit from shortstop Curt Waddell. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cobra.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Waddell told the New York Today. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
