Miami beat Texas at Ballpark of Texas, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Vicente Saenz. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. Miami pitcher Fred Kelly got the win. He's now 1-0. Cristobal Rangel was tagged with the loss. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Ken Stafford.

With Miami leading 5-4 in the top of the fifth, Saenz hit a run-scoring single off Texas hurler Dave Regush. It was the 2nd hit of the season for Saenz and put his team ahead, 6-4.

"We take it day by day here," said Saenz, "and today was a good one for us."

With the loss, Texas sinks to 6-4.
