The Charlotte Hawks picked up a win at Hawk Nest, topping the Mars Eyebiters, 5-2. On the mound for Charlotte was right-hander Malcolm Sherman. He played a principal role in the triumph. Anthony Mayes was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Dale Haynes. The victory gives Charlotte a record of 52-35.

Charlotte took a 3-2 lead on Orlando Chavez's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Chavez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Mars pitcher Dale Haynes visibly frustrated.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Chavez.
