The Mars Eyebiters picked up a win at Hawk Nest, taking down the Charlotte Hawks, 5-4. Starting pitcher Mike Slaughter was a big reason why. Jose De La Cerda was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 26 save opportunities. Mars goes to 34-56, Charlotte to 52-36.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Gerardo Ramirez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Charlotte pitcher William Bell, he hit a first pitch changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mars on top, 5-4.

Mars manager Kurt Rush commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
