The Springfield Isotopes downed the Boston Beaneaters, 3-1, at Duff Field. Stellar pitching by Rens Spaan had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. With the loss, Boston falls to 7-5.

Ty Hansen took Boston hurler Ignacio Robles deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Isotopes on top, 2-0. In all, Hansen had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
