Denver Beats Toronto, 6-3
|
Due in large part to second baseman Miguel Perez, the Denver Rabbits sunk the Toronto Seagulls, 6-3. Perez went 1-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Carlos K Hernandez, who finished 4th in the MC in strikeouts with 248 in 2021, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Brandon Sanders was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 25 save opportunities.
Perez contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Denver in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-0, Perez took a splitter from Dave Hall and stroked the home run to center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Rabbits to leap in front, 4-3.
Perez called the win "a collective effort."
Today's win puts Denver at 67-51, while Toronto falls to 62-56.
