Charlotte Sent Home with 8-2 Loss
|
Good production from designated hitter Richard Cole helped the New York Knights topple the Charlotte Hawks, 8-2. Cole went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Knights. Claudio Rincon got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Bill Simons earned his 3rd save in 6 chances.
Casey Robinson drew 2 walks for New York. The 29-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Alex Munoz. It was his 32nd walk of the season.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Charlotte manager Omar Gomez.
New York is now 57-70, Charlotte 69-56.
