Louisville Slaps 14-3 Loss on Toledo
With right fielder Troy Cole leading the charge, the Louisville Sluggers defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 14-3, at Toledo Ballpark. Cole, who finished 3rd in the SC in doubles with 40 in 2021, was 2-6 with a home run. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Picking up the win was Jose Lopez. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. The left--hander struck out 5 and walked 0. Jonathan Reis nailed down his 1st save.

Ryan Jones had a big 2-run double for the Sluggers in the top of the first inning. With Louisville leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a cutter from Mark Cole and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sluggers ahead, 3-0.

"It was our day today," Cole told the Louisville Chronicle. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."

Louisville is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 3rd win in 14 games.
