Beaneaters Handle Philadelphia, Snag 6-5 Win
|
The Boston Beaneaters picked up a win at Ballpark of Philadelphia, knocking off the Philadelphia Grays, 6-5. Starting pitcher Ignacio Robles played a key role in the triumph. Scot Johnson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 36 of 42 save opportunities. Boston is 69-63 and Philadelphia, with the loss, 64-69.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Azari Firedancer came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Lorenzo Polanco, he hit a 0-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 4-3.
"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Firedancer.
