Penguins Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Florida Penguins in 10 innings beat the Green Day Dukes, 2-1, at Duke Stadium. Starting pitcher Cesar Colon was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Florida pitcher Craig Webb got the win. He's now 2-4. Antonio Najera was tagged with the loss. Florida, at 59-84, occupies last place in the Major Conference Eastern Division.
Florida used the timely hitting of Emily Richardson to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Penguins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Trent Weaver, the Florida skipper.
