The Boston Beaneaters knocked off the New York Cobra, 3-1, in Superior Conference action at Fenway Park. Boston pitcher and Escazú, Costa Rica, native Cristobal Gonzalez had an outstanding performance. New York falls to 9-5.

Tsugumichi Masuda had a big solo home run for the Beaneaters in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a curveball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Nobukazu Fujihara and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Beaneaters on top, 3-1.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Boston manager Mario Pujols.
